About Nuevo Caminos Travel

Based in the village of Leymebamba, Nuevos Caminos Travel is the first purpose-driven tour operator in its region, with more than 16 years of experience designing community-based, responsible, and regenerative travel experiences in northern Peru.

Their journeys are intentionally unhurried. Travelers are invited to move with mindfulness—valuing the path itself, not just the endpoints—while engaging with local nature, ancestral knowledge, and food traditions that reflect the rhythms of everyday life.

About Nuevo Camino’s founder, Marilyn Alvarado

Marilyn Velásquez Alvarado is from Leymebamba herself, and her work is deeply shaped by place. Her vision for tourism is not extractive or performative—it is relational. She believes travel can create space for reflection, physical movement at any age or ability, and genuine connection between visitors and host communities.

Her leadership is grounded in respect: for land, for cultural memory, and for the people who choose—on their own terms—to welcome visitors into their lives.

Nuevos Caminos is co-directed with Francisco Javier Delgado Carranza, and together they guide a team committed to tourism that strengthens social and ecological well-being rather than eroding it.
