Traditional views of the Quilotoa Crater take a wide-angle lens… and they are beautiful photos. But this lake deserves close-ups. Its shoreline is craggy with ancient volcanic rock and the shallow water next to the edge glows a neon yellow green. Close-ups also show the patterns made by the constant winds. I encourage all of you to take the so-called normal shots but then to consider what elements of the scene deserve a closer look.
