I really enjoy meeting artists and artisans. And being able to hold conversations in Spanish means that I can ask lots of questions. This woman would not sell me the figure she is holding. It is a diablo humo, a traditional figure seen during Inti Raymi. She made it for the annual mazapan contest and won a prize her artistry. When I asked to take a picture, she thought I only wanted the figurine and when I explained that the artist is just as important, she proudly held her work and posed.
